IMDG Dangerous Goods by Sea

Tutor Lead Introductory course to meet the regulations for all personnel engaged in certain functions of the transport of Dangerous Goods by Sea based on:

  • General Awareness
  • Function specific
  • Safety Training

Course Outline

The following subjects will be covered (Depending on function):

  • Introduction to the IMDG Code
  • Classification of dangerous goods
  • Packing requirements
  • Marking, labelling or placarding dangerous goods
  • Loading/unloading cargo transport units (CTU’s)
  • Documentation
  • Prepare dangerous goods for loading/stowage
  • Offer dangerous goods for transport
  • Accept dangerous goods for transport
  • Handle dangerous goods
  • Forces that effect CTU at sea
  • Load/unload dangerous in/from ships
  • Carry dangerous goods

Course Details

No exam required – however learners will be required to complete classroom exercises to verify understanding and a certificate of attendance will be issued.
